Western Books: Bestsellers
Demonfire: The Demonslayers – Kate Douglas
Kate Douglas is a renowned author of erotic romance, but this is her first venture into the world of paranormal romance. “Demonfire” is the first installment in a series of the Demonslayer series, and she’s successfully transported all of her talents into the new genre with this fiery tale of paranormal romance with an added “sizzle”. Lovers of her erotic romance books might find this tale a little tamer in some departments than usual, but when you romance a demon there are bound to be some sparks flying.
The central characters are Dax, who is everything a demon-hero ought to be – sexy and mysterious with a healthy splash of intrigue – strong yet with a vulnerable side – you know the type, utterly irresistible. The heroine, however, is Eddy, a journalist who likes to deal with cold hard facts and doesn’t believe in the paranormal, unlike her father. The journey races between Hell (Abyss), Heaven (Eden) and Earth, trying to save the balance, and you’ll be halfway through the book before you even realize that dinner time is long gone!
The Clayborne Brides: One Pink Rose, One White Rose, One Red Rose – Julie Garwood
Three short stories in one, the stories of the Clayborne Brides follows the fortunes of the Clayborne Clan in the inimitable Julie Garwood style. It may be better if you’ve already been introduced to the Claybornes in “For the Roses” which will help you to understand the dynamics of the family.
One Pink Rose is Travis Claybornes story, who is sent by Mama Rose to pick up Emily Finnegan and deliver her to O’Toole, her waiting groom. Emily is headstrong, Travis finds her difficult to understand and that’s really the basis of their tale – intriguing, although Emily’s softer side does win through to Travis in the end.
One White Rose is all about Douglas Clayborne, which many feel is the best story and therefore Julie Garwoods favorite brother – maybe she fell in love with him a little herself. If you like your romance scattered with heros and horses, then Douglas might just be your favorite brother too.
One Red Rose is the story of Adam Clayborne, the courageous leader and head of the Clayborne clan.
Last Dragon Standing – G.A. Aiken
The first thing to realize is this is not a “stand alone” book but is the fourth (and last) in the very popular Dragonkin series. It would be difficult to know what was going on if you hadn’t read the others first as the story starts off where the previous book (What a Dragon Should Know) ends. There’s certainly a lot going on in this “laugh out loud” romance, fast moving and action packed, just what you’d expect really from romantic tales of barbarians and dragons and the eventual (and long awaited) pairing of Keita the Red (rather lustful as her name suggests) and Ragnar the Cunning. What more could you ask for? If you haven’t read the first books in the series then get your hands on them first and start at the very beginning.
